The main concept of this proposal, the continuous flow from garden-pool-lanai-living-dining-kitchen works pretty well. We like very much the long window on the south side in the first floor which gives a lot of natural light to the house. The façade is also beautiful. However, we have to be nick-picking when choosing our dream home, and my family and I spent hours pondering the virtues of beauty versus practicality, and eventually found that having the kitchen so far from the lanai, where we eat most of the time and where I BBQ for family and friends is quite inconvenient. I think you missed the point that we eat at the lanai when you deleted the existing table from there. I also think that you unnecessarily reduced the available area by adding that fountain in the first floor narrowing the Northeast wing of the house. The layout of Master bathroom and WIC is great, with size of bedroom just fine, but we would like to have the head of the bed towards North and having bigger windows in the south wall of the Master Bedroom to capture more natural light during the day. The main problem with your submission is the playroom for the kids. This room cannot be in the core of second floor where all circulation will pass by. This room is where kids will be allowed to make as much noise and mess as they wish, and that is not suitable in the middle of the hall. I appreciate very much your hard work for this project. Thanks
Dear Client, Thank You very much for your comments, and also for your Honorable Mention nod. I knew I was taking a few programming chances with the open play area and kitchen setup, so your critiques in those areas are taken in stride! In any event, it was a very interesting design challenge which I couldn't resist to take a swing at. The winning entry is very creative work, so I'll humbly stand back and watch as it goes forward. Wishing you the very best on your project... It looks like you will be building a spectacular home!
